Featured Zatista Artists

Radek Smach

Born in Opava, Czech Republic, Radek Smach has developed a distinctive style focused on the present moment and clarity of mind. His paintings, rooted in abstract expressionism and minimalism, explore the transient nature of phenomena as colors mix and shift on the canvas. After studying marketing and economy at University Ostrava, he began his artistic journey in 2011 under the mentorship of academic painters Mimoza Botsin and Petra Raska, with further training from British painter David John Lloyd.

Working from his studio in Opava, he uses handcrafted tools and experiments with new techniques to create multilayered pieces. For him, painting is a process where the artist and the work become one, leading to spontaneous and unique compositions. His work is part of collections in the USA, England, China, Japan, and other countries worldwide.

Anne B. Schwartz

Anne B. Schwartz approaches art with a strong sense of abstract expression and a designer’s command of color and shape. She uses a palette knife and brushes to create vibrant, textured oil paintings. In her Crystal Auras series, she layers acrylics with mica and natural minerals to produce opalescent surfaces that reflect light like geodes. Her largest project Ricordi d’Italia, combines her interest in color, light, and surface with inspiration from her travels in Italy. These works are influenced by the geometric details of Italian architecture. These ethereal paintings have a more structured feel compared to Crystal Auras.

Her latest series, Burst, expands on sections of Ricordi d’Italia, transforming them into new compositions inspired by her study of Asian Sumi-e ink painting. Schwartz’s love of color is also influenced by her 25 years as a jewelry designer, where working with gems inspired her vibrant use of color.

Lucia Bergamini

Born in Turin and now living in Asti, Switzerland, Lucia Bergamini draws inspiration from the scenic landscapes of the region, known for its fine Italian wine. Growing up with a grandfather who was a landscape painter she developed a passion for art early on, spending afternoons drawing under his guidance. She attended an art-focused secondary school and studied music at the Conservatoire in Turin, earning a diploma in double bass. Despite various jobs, she continued painting and eventually decided to dedicate herself fully to her true passion.

Her love for food and wine plays a central role in her work, as she seeks to capture the joy and anticipation of savoring a delicious meal. Embracing hyperrealism, she aims to convey the magic of reality, combining it with a touch of irony and comic strip influence, which she describes as hyperrealistic pop. Through her art, she aims to create a connection with viewers, offering moments of carefree enjoyment and a reminder of life’s simple pleasures.
