Artist Statement:
My dream is to paint like a kid with no reference to the past or future.
Robert Musser was born and raised in New Waterford, a small village outside of Youngstown, Ohio, and currently resides in Olmsted Falls, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio with his two children. Obsessed with art and photography from the age of five, he received a scholarship to Youngstown State University in 1993 from the Ohio Arts Council, where he majored in Graphic Design and Marketing. While at YSU, he began to paint under the tutelage of Al Bright, Susan Russo, and Phil Chan. Robert has worked as a professional designer and photographer for the last two decades. Always creating and exploring everything from making music, brewing beer, to Jiu-Jitsu, the call of paint and canvas never left his thoughts.
He prefers to work in acrylic still, but is excited to delve into in any medium. Roberts' appreciation of artists such as, Gerhard Richter, Jean Dubuffet, and Joan MirĂ³ have swayed him to the complex shapes and layers that bring the energy and movement to his present works. He is a member of the Cleveland West Art League, Ohio Citizens for the Arts, The Cleveland Museum of Art, and Americans for the arts.
