Artist Statement:
Baltimore artist Lynne Pell has been nurturing her passion for painting for the last 20 years. After graduating from George Washington University and pursuing other graduate degrees, Lynne studied painting with some of Baltimore's most acclaimed artists.
An intuitive painter, Lynne has an acute sense of her surroundings; her art captures a keen response to the subject matter and to her environment. Her expressionistic work is at once spontaneous and lyrical, comprising elements of impressionism and abstraction in many pieces.
"The push and pull of the paint is what creates and completes the expression; it is important to know when to add, when to take away and when the painting is finished. My artistic vision is a direct reflection of our evolving lives in relation to our deepest selves and to one another...every mark matters."
Subjects of her oil and acrylic paintings include landscapes, figures, flowers and still life. Lynne's work is displayed in numerous private collections in Baltimore, New York, St. Louis, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and South Florida.
In addition to painting, Lynne works as a consultant for the Maryland State Department of Education and has designed a leather belt collection sold in boutiques and by representatives nationwide.
