Artist Statement:
My artistic background began in London in the 1970’s where I worked as a photographer’s assistant. Later my photographic training enabled me to set up a black and white photographic business in London in association with a picture framing workshop.
Early 80’s saw me move to Somerset and it was then that I began to paint, as a relaxing hobby to begin with followed by commercial success as people bought pieces of my work.
As a self taught painter many of my paintings use lighting techniques borrowed from my years working in photography and it is the simplistic aspect of my paintings that I feel appeals, making them suitable for a wide range of tastes.

Education:
Self taught
Artistic Influences:
In the early years I was very influence by artist like Henk Helmantel for his almost photographic detailing and Vermeer for the way he made use of the light. Later I began to like more modern painters such as Euan Uglow for his simplicity and Julian Merrow Smith for his painterly images.
