Artist Statement:
I paint to express the invisible, the feelings and emotions we humans experience everyday, be they joy, angst, sorrow or graditude. They may be memories of a lost time, shadows of a love we shared. I paint these feelings by using color, powerful brushstrokes and fill my surface with the brushstrokes, colors and shapes that speak for you. Joy plays a major role in My work for the process of painting brings me joy. For this reason, i feel my work always expresses faith in a better time. My work has many layers, each holding a sacred feeling.
Each choice I make affects what I have already done, as well as what I am going to do. Sometimes, I create unintentional roadblocks with my choices and have to work to resolve the surface to an ending that satisfies me and gives results that I can enjoy and am willing to share with others.
The process is an internal discussion between the surface and me. Like life, this "dialogue with my surface," is uncertain, outcome unknown.
