Artist Statement:
I create pencil drawings that delight the eye and warm the soul, calling on nostalgia and posing questions about the significance humanity places on itself.
My work explores the obviously beautiful such as diamonds but also the seemingly mundane that often poses the same jewel like qualities.
Having worked with Acrylic, Oil and in clay the main body of my work now consists of coloured pencil pieces. The medium enables me the control and impact i seek. It also serves to provide an opportunity to show people what can be achieved with an often neglected medium.
Initially self taught I was fortunate enough to be personally mentored enabling me to develop the skills that enabled me to explore my own art practice and an ethos which is both fun and steeped in my life philosophy.
The style of my work is best described as Hyperrealist Surrealism. This contradiction is playful and sums up both my style and the questions my art poses. Presented with vivid Popart colour the work I create takes a very original contemporary view of art and life, delivering both with a smile.
